Play your MUSIC

Music is an art form whose medium is sound. Believe me guys I just copied this formal definition from Wikipedia. I must give them credit to maintain such a valuable data on a very nicely designed advertisement free website.. :-) . I have been playing music for 5 years and listening to it right from the age of 7, but never tried to remember such formal definition. For me MUSIC is just something which gives me peace of mind and keeps me focused. Though my mom dad is not so filmy couple, both of them are really very fond of listening to music. Bhajan’s and bhupali’s are the traditional music types that they followed right from their childhoods being from the reputed family at my native place. Even they don’t know every aspect of it, they are just quite happy that they can at least memorize and sing along a bit with the very difficult songs.

My mom is die hard Marathi music fan. I got to hear so many types of Marathi songs (Natya sangit, Movie songs etc..) on VIvidha bharati and Mumbai prasaran bharti channels playing all day long on the radio. Dad is quite moody person. He loves all the Rajesh Khanna, Dev anand’s songs. He loves to sing Bhajan’s. Guess what??? He is only the inspiration behind me trying my hands on Tabla these days. He sings the Bhajan’s and I play tabla that’s how it goes. Mom is there to clap and we all enjoy a quality time together at least for an hour. This is one of our favorite pass times over the weekend. Sometimes my sister and her husband also join in. So here also music plays vital role in my life. We all come together and sing in the name of God. I don’t know the goods and bad’s of it, but afterall it’s my parents happiness that I enjoy a lot.

Above explanation may lead you to conclude that I have very limited choice of music. No guys I listen (at least try and listen) to every type of music right from Marathi, Hindi, classical rock and metal rock too. Blues is also my new interest nowadays. I was not such a great rock music fan until I came in touch with my friends and bandmates Ravi, Umesh, Samir. Ravi was always used to hang in on train doors with his Transcend mp3 player with one plug in his ears and one in mine. Was never so interested in singing part, but Varsha inspired me to do so and I started following Bryan Adams as a great vocalist and rhythm guitarist. Don’t know about others:-).. These are the guys who inspired me to learn guitar and enjoyed their company a lot being part of Defaulters. Though something’s didn’t work out well and I parted ways, I still like to listen the music they play. Find them on the google with name “Defaulters”..You are going great guys..Keep it up..

Sometime’s people ask me a question. Man you play guitar, rocks songs how can you sing bhajan’s and Marathi songs so well? Well my answer is just because I don’t discriminate between the types of music. For me every music type has something to learn from. Well, I am not the only person to experience that. Some days ago I attended a managerial training program in my organization and the guy, the lead trainer was playing some Tibetan type of music on his laptop throughout the session. He even gave a very nice explanation for the same which I obviously don’t remember :-) as the music itself was very touching.

I still tumble with Taals, sur’s, Notations even though playing music for 5 years. Trying to learn them from so many days, but for me it’s my friends singing along, dancing which makes me happy when I play guitar. I still remember my first business conference in Greytrix. Me, Mandar, Manjunath. Himashree, Ankita were kind of crazy playing guitar, dancing. We even played on pool-side at nights. SUTTA one of our favorite songs of that time. Just posting the video below to let you know how much we guys used to enjoy.

I still remember the words from my music teacher Mr. Anand, dude whatever you play, play it in such manner that it should sound good. Not even perfect he said. He said it should sound good. That’s what always plays in my mind whenever I take my guitar in hands and literally play rhythm along any song people sing. Well, trying to learn Tabla these days. Not going for formal raining, but still very much familiar with it now. May god help me to get some time for that out of such a busy schedule!

Guys a personal suggestion from my side, try and learn at least one musical instrument. It gives you immense peace of mind that you won’t get even after paying thousands of bucks for Yoga classes and all. If you can’t take time and seat to learn big instruments try and learn instruments like Harmonica. Even some googling around may make you pro in playing it and that’s something you can even carry in your pockets and play anywhere you want. The moral is being happy and make others happy. Life is beautiful. Try and unfold every aspect of it. Learn new things whenever you get the chance to do so. Make friends, share ideas and enjoy the life to the fullest. Spread love…Love you all..

Swaroop Paha

Hi guys! Trust you all are doing good! It's been a long time I have been away from personal blogging. However some recent instances moved my thought process and I felt like going back to sharing things again. Coming to the topic, now you must be wondering what does it mean. Its a popular Marathi quote from the legendary Acharya Vinoba Bhave "Swaroop paha, Vishwaroop pahu naka". It means "Look at yourself, not the world". Nowadays its really necessary that we understand the meaning of this quote in our life. I think we need to interpret the quote itself as "First try to change yourself, then go for changing the world".  I am sure that all my fellow Indians are quite happy in their personal lives, because thats what we learn, earn and do hardwork for right? So what's going wrong with our public life? Why are we becoming more antisocial day by day? Is it really because of facilities, benifits, govertments, earnings? Yes they all do...

Why so serious???

Will I get the good job? Will I get the good increment? Will I get the sexy, beautiful girl to marry? So many questions….Huhh..I mean, what’s happening with all buddies? We all are spending each and every second of life thinking about these damn things. Is anybody alive thinking of living life to the fullest? What has happened to the terms like Love, Joy, Mauj-Masti. I think our children won’t even understand meaning of these words in future. What led us to this situation? Seriously, competition is the only thing that always plays a vital role in turning our fundamentals of life in these directions. Everyone is always telling you; if you will stop competing you will lose the race of life. I ask what you will get after winning? Is there a special award or appreciation waiting for you in heaven or hell ... Wherever you go? Noooo… Guys come on; living life to the fullest doesn’t mean leaving your roles and responsibilities behind. It’s the time we should start valuing relationships, unde...

First outing to Bhandardara, a jewel of Sahyadris

Its been a while away from blogging and I am back with another travelogue from recent trip to Bhandardara. This time with my ex colleague's from Greytrix, my previous employer. The dates were 14, 15 july 2018. To start with, it was not so difficult choice between Lonavla and Bhandardara for rainy outing since the hype around lonavla is bringing in hell lot of crowd there nowadays. Its certainly not a place where you want to go for leisure anymore. Anyways so we set foot for first outing with this group to Bhandardara knowing little or nothing about the place. Couple of pick up/Tea halts at Thane and Bhiwandi bypass and we were on our way through Mumbai Nashik highway. It was indeed one beautiful day for an outing. Climate on the way through Kasara ghat and around was simply amazing. Just beofre Ghoti bypass driver decided to take a route well known to him (unknown to us:-)) and our journey from highway to bhandardara uphill started through narrow but very well...
