It was quite a disappointing day for me yesterday. Day before yesterday went for the new movie starring maestro Rajnikant “ROBOT”. The movie was awesome :-) (as all rajni movies are..). Had a blast that day. Guess what; in all the fun I had that day I forgot to put fuel in my UNI that was already running on reserve near about 50 KMs. Came home happily slept and woke up earlier to visit Airoli petrol pump and fuel in.
As usual not on scheduled time 8:30 AM, I left at 8:45. Went all the way 4 KMs to petrol pump only to find no patrol over there. Again traveled 4 KMs back to highway and wasted 8 KMs running for no fuel. Now knowing fact there is no petrol pump on the way till Chembur and I already had run near about 60 KMs on reserve and I won’t be able to reach office on time, I decided to take risk and kept on driving towards Chembur. Right after I crossed Vikroli bridge fuel tank was empty and vehicle broke down. What a place my bike chose to break down man!!! At least 10 minutes I was thinking what to do and where to go. Asked so many bikers for some fuel. Called so many friends, but nobody was up for help. Was like helpless for nearly half an hour. Then I followed the principal of engineers never fail except there university subjects and went for a trick.
Pulled the side stand and laid the bike on left hand side. This helped some drops of fuel to go inside engine. Picked up and kick started the bike (All you FZS’s and Yamaha’s this is the benefit of having kick :-)..UNI rocks!!). Suddenly a petrol pump in Vikroli west that i had visited 2 years ago, came into my mind. Turned the bike and ran on opposite side of highway to reach Vikroli Bridge. Took left and went all the way till Vikroli station. Guys there is no public bridge or vehicle bridge over there. We need to trespass the tracks to go on other side. I didn’t take risk with vehicle in this condition to cross the tracks and parked the bike in nearby parking lot. Crossed the track and went to petrol pump at 5 minutes walking distance. Asked the worker to give fuel. He asked where the vehicle is, I said it broke down and I need to carry fuel in bottle till there. He said selling loose petrol in bottles is temporarily banned after Ayodhya verdict. Man this kicked the hail out of me. I did whatever I can to patau him and give me fuel worth Rs 50. He asked for bottle and man I didn’t had a bottle too. Asked many people, but nobody helped. Went straight away to General stores and brought a Bisleri mineral water. Drank half bottle water and sprinkled the remaining on my already burning head and face. Took the fuel in empty bottle, went to station, put the fuel in tank, opened the jacket and started riding back to office. All the way till office I was thinking how sometimes we need to pay for carelessness and what has happened to helping nature of Mumbai nowadays. Guys nobody helps in this cruel world. So always have backup plan with you:-):-)..
